A watch is not an insignificant gift. It's worn every day, it's seen, and it eventually becomes part of the person. That's what makes it so right when it's a good fit — and so awkward when it's not.
Three details determine the outcome. The rest is secondary.
1. Wrist size, not person size
This is the most common mistake. People choose a large watch for a tall person, when only wrist circumference matters.
Discreetly observe a watch they already wear: does it extend beyond the wrist, or does it stay within? When in doubt, go down a size. A slightly small watch will be worn; a watch that's too big will stay in its box.

2. The metal they already wear
This is the most reliable and easiest indicator to check. Look at their jewelry: if everything is silver-toned, a rose gold watch will clash. If everything is gold-toned, a steel case will seem cold.
People are remarkably consistent on this point, often without even thinking about it. Following their usual metal is almost always the right choice.
3. Their life, not your taste
Someone who works with their hands, plays sports, or handles equipment doesn't need a light leather strap. Someone who spends their days in meetings will appreciate a thin watch that slips under a shirt cuff.
Our cases measure 7 to 7.5 mm thick: they fit everywhere. And since all our straps are interchangeable, a strap mistake can be corrected in seconds — a diameter mistake cannot.
What people forget to check

- Legibility — a clean dial is easy to read at a glance. It's a gift to be used, not deciphered.
- Warranty — our watches are covered for 24 months. Keep the proof of purchase: that's what starts the clock.
Some safe bets
If you're looking for the choice that will displease the least: the Reine d'Argent in 36 mm and the Bronzite in 41 mm are the most consensual — steel, white dial, no daring color choices to contend with.
For something more assertive, the Reine d'Or with its rose gold mesh, or the Azurite with its deep blue leather, have more character — provided you know their tastes.
And if you're really hesitating
